I suppose this person hates Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the VA administration also.

Guns at Obama town halls? Watch the news. People are standing around with machine guns, one with a sign that says the tree of liberty needs to be refreshed with the blood of patriots, the slogan of Tim McVey.

The "end of life" counseling was promoted by a Republican, and it says that, if you want it, it will be paid for.

I live in Missouri. Comparing Obama to a Nazi because he wants to reform a broken health care system seems just a little... extreme.

Reform.
Reform.

What is going on with Health Care Reform? Why are you against it? Why are you sitting back and thinking "must be something wrong with Obama and the Democrats because so many people are angry about their plan"? Socialist Death Panels?

In reality, there are no death panels. Health care costs (for those of us who have insurance) have skyrocketed. So have deductibles. And coverage is down. Insurance company bureaucrats "ration" our health care. They have people assigned specifically to find a way to deny your claim. Average pay for an Insurance Corporation CEO is around 11 million. Insurance Company stocks rise with "no public option" and fall with "yes there will be a public option." The Corporation has a bottom line. Money. Not your health. So, those of you shouting about Socialism and Nazis, you trust the Corporation?

Any change creates worry. The Republicans are masters at stoking worry, lighting matches, and setting fear ablaze. Shouters at town halls are backed by organizations like Freedom Works and 60plus. A little research will reveal that these organizations are financed by Insurance Corporations.

So… God no, you surely don’t want Commie, Nazi, Socialist Death Panels regulating your individual right to pay exorbitant rates to Corporate CEOs and politicians bought by Corporations. Do you?  No. You don’t want that. Jeez.

We want, I think, a reformed health care system that brings costs down while covering everyone, encourages preventative health care, promotes competition among insurance companies, provides quality care at a reasonable price, and offers public options. We don’t have that now.

We need to change. This will take courage. So, be wary, yes, but stop gripping your guns and screaming fire!

The insurance lobbyists have some of the deepest pockets around so their political voice is very loud indeed.Health care in America (where it even exists) is a national disgrace.

"The cost will be too high resulting in rationing which will be decided by a panel which will mostly be medical people, but they will have to follow the rules made by bureaucrats."

This describes our current situation. The cost is too high, and the the panel isn't comprised of medical people but of low-level office workers, corporate bureaucrats, who know little about medicine but something about making money.

So, you trust the insurance companies who have employees specifically designated to figure out ways to deny your life or death claim?

The main reason there will be Death Panels under Obama Health/Death Care is because the cost will be too high resulting in rationing which will be decided by a panel which will mostly be medical people, but they will have to follow the rules made by bureaucrats. This is the Progressive belief of some of Obama's advisors. The end-of-life program is a different issue, which distracts from the real Death Panels.

When I was in the Air Force patients could sign "no heroics" do not recesitate clauses to keep us from doing CPR to extend life. Sometimes physicians would counsel these with a family or the patient for any patient that had no chance of living far beyond the recesitation, for example, terminal cancer patients inthe last stages of life, stroke victims with no brain function, etc.

And funny how it's about making informed choices. What's wrong with paying physicians to take the necessary time to go over all the options?

As it stands now, the Insurance Corporations make the choices. Is it because they make lots of money on all those "end-of-life" procedures and tests?

Sarcasm is great! The whole idea of the so-called "Death Panels" was first proposed by a congressman from Georgia. He wanted to include an end-of-life program for those who would need help with living wills, etc. Funny how that has become the "Evil Obama Socialist Death Plan", isn't it?

Cheers!

No. We're on the same wavelength. I may have not read your page carefully enough the first time.

Hmm, I sure hope you, Ralph, aren't under the impression that I believe there are death panels. My article, as I reread it, is dripping with perhaps a little too much sarcasm. Yes, it is one of the many lies circulated by health insurance corporations. Do I need to edit and rewrite anything so that I'm not perpetuating more stipidity? Okay, I went ahead and added, "There are no death panels." No sense in adding to the confusion, as that is exactly what the Republicans and the insurance corps want.

No one has proposed "death panels." That's just one of the lies being financed and circulated by the health insurance company parasites.
